Vinyl Maintenance

• Place a walk-off mat outside entrances to reduce the amount of dirt, grit and soil brought into your home. Avoid rubber-backed mats.
• Use large surfaced, non-staining floor protectors, at least 1" in diameter, under all furniture legs, appliances, and/or objects. Floor protectors reduce indentations and scratching.
• When moving heavy furniture and/or appliances, lay a plywood panel on your floor. This helps prevent scuffing and tearing to the floor.
• To help prevent staining from tacked-in asphalt marks, we recommend the use of latex-based driveway sealer.
• Close drapes and/or blinds during peak hours of strong sunlight. Heat and sunlight causes most home furnishings to fade or discolor.
• Damp mop floors with a non-detergent floor cleaner. Use products approved by flooring manufacturers. Call WestBay Decorating for details.
• Stubborn scuffs and black heel marks can be removed with a non-abrasive polishing cleaner, such as a soft scrub or lighter fluid.
• High-gloss floors will lose shine over time. To restore gloss, use manufacturer approved polish.
