Three Styles of Hardwood Flooring

StripFlooring
Strip flooring are linear strips usually 2-1/4", 1-1/2", or 3-1/4" wide. By creating a linear effect in the room, strip flooring often gives the illusion of a larger room.

Plank Flooring
As with strip flooring, plank flooring is linear as well, but comes in wider widths. Usually plank flooring comes in 3". 4", 5" and 6" wide. Plank flooring often lends to a more traditional or country look.

Parquet Flooring
Parquet Flooring are individual floor pieces that create a geometric design. There are several design options when dealing with parquet flooring.

Species:
- Exotics
- Birches/Maples
- Oaks/Cherries

Hardness:
The industry uses the Janka test to evaluate the hardness of certain species of wood. The following is a list of wood species accompanied by their hardness ratings. The higher the number the harder the wood.
