Carpet

Nothing looks like it, feels like it, or performs like it. It enhances the peace and quiet of your home by absorbing sound. It insulates against the cold, cushions your feet with comfort, adds safety-helping prevent slips and falls and protects dropped objects against damage. And because carpet is a key decorative element in the home and a major purchase, you must keep several factors in mind during the selection process. Perhaps the most important things to consider: Does it fit your taste and does it match your style.

Location and Use

Before purchasing carpet, you need to answer the following questions: How is the room going to be used? Will it have heavy or light traffic? Will the room be the center of activity for family and entertaining? Is there direct access from the outside or will the carpet be away from entrances? Will the carpet receive direct sunlight? Where there is to be heavy traffic (usually the family room, hallways, stairways) choose the best carpet you can afford.

WestBay Decorating and Flooring Center offers the following residential and commercial styles: Textured, Saxony, Frieze, Cable, Loop, Cut and Loop, Sculptures and Custom Borders.
  • Textured- Cut pile carpet with alternating twists of yarn creating a two-tone appearance. Suitable for all decor. Less likely to show footprints and vacuum marks.
  • Saxony- Cut pile carpet with a smooth, velvet look. Its uniform twist and finish lends more formal and elegant. Retains footprints and vacuum marks.
  • Frieze- Highly twisted cut pile. Textured surface with a knobby appearance. Less likely to show footprints and vacuum marks.
  • Cable- Characterized by a thicker and usually longer yarn.
  • Loop Often referred to as a berber. Continuous uncut surface in either a level loop or multi-level loop. Casual look. Hides traffic patterns, but seams more visible.
  • Cut & Loop Combination of both cut and loop yarns to make a pattern. Suitable for formal, contemporary, or casual settings.

Wool, Nylon, Olefins, Polypropylene, and fiber blends are available through select manufacturers.
