Polished - A glossy surface that brings out the full color and character of the stone.
Honed - A satin smooth finish with little or no gloss.
Tumbled - A surface treatment in which the material is put into a large drum with other materials, such as sand, and tumbled to the desired finish.
Antiqued - The finish given to a stone by using one of several of the following techniques to achieve the desired look: Acid Washing, Sand Blasting, Brushing, Chiseling of the edges or Tumbling.
Brushed - A finish that uses wire brushes and water on the surface of the stone to achieve a tumbled or antique finish.
Chiseled - A surface treatment that is manually applied to the edges with a hammer and chisel. The finished product can vary from smooth to rough.
Flamed - A surface treatment that is applied by intense heat flaming to create a rough texture.
